Midwest Preplanning was founded by Elise and Craig Schumacher, a husband-and-wife team committed to serving families with honesty, care, and intention. Together, they combine professional expertise, thoughtful planning, and attention to detail to ensure every family feels supported, informed, and confident throughout the process.
One of the things that sets us apart is how we serve families. We specialize in meeting you where you feel most comfortable—whether virtually, in your home, at a coffee shop, at our office. Our goal is to make the process feel supportive, respectful, and as stress-free as possible, always centered on your needs.
Elise Schumacher
Licensed Funeral Director | Senior Preplanning Advisor |Co-Founder
Elise Schumacher is a Minnesota licensed funeral director and licensed insurance agent with over 15 years of experience in the funeral industry. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program, Elise specializes in funeral preplanning services, Medicaid strategy, and custom monument creation.
Through her career, Elise has helped countless families navigate complex decisions with clarity and compassion. She discovered her true calling in guiding people to plan ahead—ensuring loved ones are supported, organized, and never left unprepared. Elise is known for her calm presence, educational approach, and dedication to ethical, family-centered service.
Outside of work, Elise enjoys long nature walks, spending time at the cabin, reading a good book, and expressing her creativity through bridal wedding makeup.

Craig Schumacher
Memorial Counselor | Preplanning Advisor | Co-Founder
Craig Schumacher brings a unique professional background in both law enforcement and the insurance industry, paired with a deep commitment to service and integrity. He has found his true calling in helping families through life’s most difficult moments, particularly through the design and creation of meaningful memorials.
Craig plays a key role in operations, strategy, and memorial design, ensuring every detail is handled with care and precision. His structured, thoughtful approach helps create a seamless approach when working with famimlies.
Outside of work, Craig officiates Men's Division II and III college basketball and enjoys staying active through fitness and training. Together Craig and Elise enjoy traveling, spending time at the lake, and playing with their two energetic sproodle dogs, Porter and Maggie Jo!
Jeanne McGill

Jeanne McGill is the founder of a long-standing and highly successful independent preplanning agency, bringing over 25 years of experience in the death care industry. Throughout her career, Jeanne built a trusted practice centered on education, integrity, and compassionate guidance, helping families navigate end-of-life planning with clarity and confidence.
Renowned for her ability to simplify complex and emotional topics, Jeanne created an environment that fostered meaningful communication and informed decision-making between individuals and their families while keeping it light hearted and upbeat.
As Jeanne transitions toward retirement, she has thoughtfully collaborated with Elise and Craig to carry her business and relationships forward while preserving the values and standards she established. Today, Jeanne remains involved as an advisor and mentor to Elise and Craig, offering guidance, mentorship, and much wisdom!
